'66 Deville Oil Capacity

ifcustoms on Sat July 12, 2014 3:18 PM User is offlineView users profile

Year: 1966
Make: Cadillac
Model: Deville
Engine Size: 429
Refrigerant Type: r-134a

I'm currently in the process of rebuilding/retrofitting a '66 Deville. I've built new lines, installed parallel flow condenser, calibrated the POA for R134, new expansion valve, new drier, and had the compressor rebuilt. My question is what is the system oil capacity? I've read anywhere from 8oz to 10.5oz?

There's a list here but it only goes back to 1985. The compressors are sometimes marked with amount of oil to use.

I went ahead and bought a service manual and it says 10.5oz total system capacity. Now onto diagnosing the automatic climate control.

I sold my test instrument for those vehicles but try ebay. They were selling for 50 bucks.
