I've read through all the A6 threads I can find, and am still confused. Can you actually SEE 2 lips/edges on the double lipped seal? From all the pictures on this site, and others, I've only ever seen one lip. And at least one poster suggested that Chick's picture of the DLS in the A6 shaft seal change thread was actually showing a regular single lip seal. Do the single and the DLS look essentially the same, without an extreme close up view?
Thanks.
Yes, both lips are visible, one is rubber the other is teflon

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
Hmmm....pretty sure I've never seen a picture of that. Is the Teflon white? Is it on the clutch side, or the compressor body side of the rubber lip?
Is that really the DLS next to the ceramic seal in the picture in this thread?

Or is not possible to tell?
Thanks again.
Teflon is black on clutch side of seal- rubber lip is less obvious on compressor side-
Yes that is a double lipper in the thread

OK. Last question--I hope! Can you see both lips in the picture--I think maybe I can?--or would you need to turn the seal over?
Thanks again.
You'll will see it if you turn it over. Very obvious when you can see one in person.
