My nephew's car wasn't cooling much. I recovered the freon. It had 1 lb 9oz. I vacuumed and recharged to 1 lb 13 oz. the best vent temp at 1200 rpm was 70.6. While driving on the road, it cot down to 69. As soon as we let off the gas the temp started to rise. At idle, high side was 130 and low was 72.

Is the compressor giving out?

Think I found the problem. From reading on the internet, it sounds like a bad refrigerant control valve. Pretty common on the Ford 500.
