What should the vent temperature be on Max A/C on vent speed 2 be when you measure it with a thermometer in the vent?

Forget vent temps- it will drive you crazy. Too many variables.

The main question is- "Is your wife happy when driving in hot weather?" Does she/you have the urge to open the windows to be comfortable? If not happy, then there is an issue...number one cause of mobile a/c failure is loss of refrigerant due to a leak. This can be determined by recovering and weighing system charge and comparing to factory fill spec. If low, then find and fix leak and evacuate and recharge- then see if you are happy inside the vehicle.

-------------------------
The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......

I'm in Arizona, so huge difference in 110F if vehicle has been baking outside in the sun so interior is like 160F, or whether relatively in cool 110F shade. Also depends upon whether 60mph down the highway or sitting idling for 2.0 minutes facing the sun for a $%&^$$^**^##$^**##$^ traffic light !!! depends on whether electric fan(s) or engine-driven fan clutch.

So agree that there's not an easy answer.

You forgot to factor in the magic in a can products also. You know they are good for a 20 degree drop in vent temps as well as 3 strokes of your golf game.
