Expansion Valve Install Issue

jmwilder1 on Thu May 15, 2014 9:58 PM User is offline

Year: 2000
Make: Dodge
Model: o
Engine Size: 5.2L
Refrigerant Type: R-134A

I just replaced the expansion valves on my 2000 Dodge Durango. Now I have a leak at the front expansion valve. I try to pump the system down to a vacuum and it will not pump down any lower than 22 in hg and loses vacuum very quickly.

I've tried 3 different manifold sets, one of them being a brand new unit. I can also hear it losing vacuum at the front expansion valve with the manifold closed and the vacuum pump switched off.

I installed the gasket between the evaporator and the expansion valve as well as replaced the O-rings at the send/return lines on the valve as well.

Is there some sort of trick to getting these things to seal? Am I missing something?
