Year: 86
Make: GMC
Model: Cabellero
Engine Size: 5.0
Refrigerant Type: R 12
Country of Origin: United States
The R4 went out on the truck, the front seal leaked and the rear hose connection was leaking.
Got a used R4 at the junk yard with same GM part #, problem is I cant locate the o rings seals for the manifold block.
Just the "sealing washers" and they wont work.
Mine has a groove for an o ring around the ports on the compressor with a square profile it appears.(the old and new-used one)
does anyone know where to get these washers?
Is it worth it to go back with the R4? and R 12?
Thanks, Colin
The o-rings are NOT square, they just form that way after being used-- they were originally round profile. I worked in the R-4 factory, seen a bunch of those- put a new shaft seal in it as well...

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
Thanks for the info.
Do you know a source for these o rings?
I can only find the washers with metal around them.
Will the o rings in the ACkits for GM R4 work?
