How much freon?

mhfd112 on Fri September 20, 2013 7:50 PM User is offline

Year: 2001
Make: Chevrolet
Model: 2500 Hd
Engine Size: 8.1 L

Had to replace my service port valve cores. I can't read the label under the hood and didnt see an 8.1 liter listing on my link to the oil and freon capacities chart.

Thanks,

I bought a can of 134a at w**-mart that had a stop leak, oil, and dye in it. It also had a hose and a gauge, so now I'm an AC pro!

That's the chart I looked at. I didn't see a listing for my truck.

It says all engines, the only difference depends on what compressor you have. The other thing that can be done, although I have found conflicting information, is to go to napaonline.com and look up some Ac parts there. It will pull up the oil to use and usually also has listed the amounts to use in the comments under the oil. Hope this helps.

I guessed it was a Denso compressor. Seems like all the light duty trucks I have worked on had the HT6. I put 29 oz in. Seemed to work good.
