How do these switches work?

This one is clipped onto a line going in to condensor. I think it is a switch that closes and opens based off temperature. I'm not sure if its normally closed or open. I would guess it is closed at low temps and opens at a certain high temp.

I think this one closes at different temperatures depending on what you have the knob set at. Looks like it goes either into the txv or the evaporator line. It seems like the metal line is heated up at the switch which I can only understand as a bad connection, corroded internals in switch, too many amps going through, or maybe it is supposed to heat to control the txv which makes no sense to me.

The ac sees to be working good but Ive noticed some low side pressures go into vacuum and high side low, which made me think its low on gas. Charged to spec so I'm feeling like this tvx may be stuck shut. Its an aftermarket add on ac unit for tractor roof and Ive had to replace the compressor seal, get electric going back into cab where cows ate the wires, And I had to spend a couple hours straightening fins on condensor and fix a tiny hole in it. Any ideas would be appreciated. Did I say it actually cools ok despite these weird pressures?
