Hi All,

My 1974 Porsche 914 has an aftermarket (dpd) ac system which I am now refreshing although sticking with R12.

I have replaced all the old lines, new expansion valve, drier, fittings. Flushed the evaporator and condensor (dried with shop air and then nitrogen), now just need to swap out the York with new Sanden.

Any idea how much mineral oil to add. On the new compressor I simply replaced the pag with same amount of mineral oil. Not sure how much to add for the other components????

Hi Amphi-- of course, any oil shipped with a compressor is just that, oil as shipped. With countless units out there, it's impossible to match that to any system. My quess?? 6 but not more than 8 ounces of mineral oil. The norm for years has been an ounce for a condenser or evaporator replacement added to what was in the compressor. On a clean system, 6 to not more than 8 will be fine. The drier will hold any excess.
