burning wire gm

Compressor not comming on.mechanic says twist the two wires on back of compressor. Now AC is colld.not front wireless look like. Melting on front of compressor smelling like burnt insulation.er what do you thik.thing compressor new. User ago AZ auto air thanks

Check clutch coil resistance, less than 3 ohms is bad, coil will overheat and burn up. Or maybe the clutch gap is wrong and the clutch is slipping or dragging?

The switch on the back is the high pressure cutoff. You can run without it but you have no protection if the condenser fans don't work. The hose will likely blow instead of the switch shutting off the compressor.
