Not Cooling

JonM on Wed August 08, 2012 11:47 AM User is offline

Year: 1984
Make: Chevrolet
Model: Corvette
Engine Size: 350
Refrigerant Type: R12
Ambient Temp: 85
Country of Origin: United States

I replaced the clutch, expansion tube, evaporator, dryer, and high side hose...did a vacuum on the system and it held over night...filled it up using 3 cans of 14oz + 2ozs of R12 (system calls for 2.75 lbs)...air blowing out at max was 52 degrees... Car wasn't used all that much...when I did use it, after a few weeks, it wasn't getting cold, so I put the gauges back on and got the readings below and air bubbles in the site glass..any educated guesses as to what to look for?....Note...it does cycle and I did add oil as directed in mt Chevrolet manual.

Cold engine NOT running

Engaine running after 5 minutes

Make sure both valves on your gauges are closed when the motor is running..

I think you've leaked out some refrigerant.
