What are effects of too much oil?

Refrigerant Type: 134a

What are the effects of too much oil in the system? Coating of heat exchange surfaces? Slugging compressor? High pressure due to incompressible oil? I'm helping a friend with a/c on E-250 van with hose leak. He's been topping off with cans over and over and it just seems like there's a lot of oil in the system.......oily, green. But, when I measure what is in the hose its about an ounce to an ounce and a half. I blew through the evaporator with nitrogen (30psi) to see if it was clogged.....no gurgling, a little spray, same green oil residue.
