Guy calls me up looking for cheap retro fittings without the valve cores. Tell him I do not sale that type, only the ones with a core and he would have to remove the ones on the vehicle. He mutters some BS and says he wants the kind that just screw on, as he does not want to remove the current refrigerant. I asked why and he said he wanted to use R134a gauges on it to install refrigerant. Mentioned he cannot mix refrigerants, says I am adding HC-12 the drop in replacement. He wants to know what alternative refrigerants we sale! You all know my stance on that crap. So this guy is adding HC-12 to R12 and I am called a shill for the EPA. Got to love those trustworthy mechanics & the Internet.

Mixed refrigerants work worse than either one alone. That is a scientific fact.
I like the refrigerant type in the header... is that refrigerant environmentally friendly.
Worst part is there are far too many shops (at least here anyway) that don't use refrigeration analyzers or dump everything into waste tanks, so cross contamination is a huge potential problem.
None of this would be an issue if we just stuck with R-12...
