Grease coming from A6 clutch?

Hello everyone, I have another post on the board about a cooling/charge issue with this car but I noticed a separate issue today.

There seems to be a large quantity of grease (or metled clutch material?) coming from the front edge of the compressor pulley, between the front side of the pulley and the clutch - there is a small gap there. The clutch seems to engage and disengage normally. The best tension does seem a bit tight.

There was a thick line of it on the hood just above the clutch , 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick in some parts of the line.

This is a fairly new compressor - any ideas of what to do as I don't want to ruin it!

Thanks!!

Drove the car more today - wiped off the grease/metled clutch reside from the hood, and a very small splattering reappeared after a 10 minute drive with ac on. Wiped it of again and drove 10 more minutes with the ac off...same thing. any ideas? clutch engages and disengages well...

Likely the front seal, a common symptom on older A6's. In fact, some GMs, Buick for one, installed oil shields over the pulley to prevent the mess. I sounds like yours may be leaking excessively.

Yep, sounds like the typical oil sling from an A6. Double lip seal might help a little or going with a newer version of the A6.
