friend has owned car for 10yrs. a/c never been touched. it works ok at idle. as soon as he hits 30mph or faster, the a/c shuts off. the faster the motor spins, the worse it works? or is there a vacuum switch that shuts off a/c at wide open throttle? not sure how these cars work when motor is maxed out?
4 or 6 cylinder? Automatic climate control or manual? Is the MIL light on? If so you need to pull codes. It's possible the TPS is way out of adjustment or bad.
Does the A/C light flash when the A/C cuts out? What are the pressures at cut out?
Also ensure the fan system is working correctly. A failure in the fan circuit can cause the A/C relay to cut off.
