Year: 1996
Make: Jeep
Model: Grand Cherokee
Engine Size: 4.0
Refrigerant Type: R-134a
Ambient Temp: 95
Pressure Low: 55
Pressure High: 275
Country of Origin: United States

Hey Guys,

This Jeep is new to me, got it was low charged it up with a can worked for a week, long story short had a bad evap core. Replaced evap core, pulled a vaccumm for 45 minutes was fine let it sit for 30 no loss threw in 2 and a half cans. Finally got hot today and it's throwing out 65 degree vent temps and not really pulling any hummiddity from the air. It works better on recirc but shouldn't it be pulling out hummiddity on non recirc? evap inlet/outlet arnt really building up water either but pretty cold to the touch

Thanks,
brandon

Imagine that, a jeep with a bad evaporator......

pretty common... so did you make sure all the doors flapped open and shut when you had the HVAC case out on your workbench? The temp doors can and do break- there is an online fix for them so you don't have to remove the HVAC case again....

Work that temp door to and fro and see if it slams shut in both directions-- If auto climate control-- watch the actuator move...

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......

Yeah something to do with some leaves ? I can count the ones that don't have a bad evap core lol.

The electronic actuator works as I actually forgot to plug it in when I reassembled the dash Unless it broke since the 3 months or so I did the job, I'll check it out tomorrow.

The door fulcrum arm is what breaks-- take actuator off and see if door moves as it should..
