Slight grinding noise when clutch is engaged, no cooling 3.5L. Can someone help with the compressor model so I can do some research. Thanks!
2006 "W" cars used 7CVC compressors built by Delphi- they are variable stroke 7 cylinder units-- and in '06 there were numerous issues during warranty with broken Japaneses built green pistons- but those generally seized the compressor so the only noise was the clutch being smoked and the residual grinding of the pulley against the clutch driver -- come to think of it-- is your compressor seized?

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
Thanks for the info. Compressor is not seized. I am going to put my gauges on to check readings, If my wife ever gets back with the car!
Got to love walk-ins where the engine is hotter than a firecracker- and they want it serviced now......put a box fan on top of engine for 10 minutes helps a lot!
