I have a 3 hose manifold and was wondering if there is an easy way to put tee connector in the charging hose (I have another short charging hose) so that I can vacuum the hose between cans. I figured that after I attached the tap to the can I could pull a quick vacuum to purge the hose prior to puncturing the to of the can.
The reason that I ask is that the only way that I've seen to purge the air from the hose between cans is to loosen the hose by the gauge until the air is purged. This process seems inaccurate and worries me that I may waste refrigerant or introduce air into the system.
If you close your can tap between swapping cans. You only need to purge the first can.

Some yellow hoses have a self-closing valve on the can end. That will keep the hose full of refrigerant while swapping cans. Of course the best way to charge is with a large cylinder and a scale.
