Hey guys, I am new to the forum and I would appreciate any help I can get. My scion tc has a rebuilt title and when I got the car everything was in working order. 6 years later (nowadays) the a/c does not function. I took the car to a Nissan dealership because I have a friend who has a connection there. The mechanic has so far replaced the high pressure hose and the compressor and the system still will not blow cold. The condenser is working, the system is holding a charge, the fan is running, the relay is working properly. Any ideas why this problem still hasn't been fixed? Thanks for your time.
Is the compressor engaging? If so, what are the pressures?
If this is truly a Denso 'constant run' compressor, then the problem is probably that the compressor is 'stuck' in the 'minimum displacement mode'. The unit is activated by a signal from the BCM which activates a solenoid in the unit thusly resulting in an change of the swash plate angle. At this point the compressor begins to pump. There are several test for this condition and most require special tools for activation of the solenoid. A suggestion would be to contact the local Toy dealer for assistance or locate a local tech with the experience and tools to service this type compressor. Since Nissan does not utilize this compressor,it is quite possible the tech is simply not trained for service of this particular unit.
Good luck
