Hi,

My a/c use to work great up until about 6 months ago. I thought it had a slow leak. When I added a can of freon it would start working aginn. Now it has completely stopped cooling. Compressor still cuts on when the a/c button is turned on. Idle raises but doesn't seem to really put a load on the engine. I was thinking with the above pressures that the compressor has gone bad. But I sure could use some help figuring it out.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Dave

Only 40 psi it's almost completely empty. There is a major leak that needs to be found and repaired. Compressor performance can be hard to interpret without knowing there's a full charge.
