Super Hot Line to/from Dryer

Model: Corolla
Engine Size: 1.8
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Ambient Temp: 90 F
Country of Origin: United States

Hi. I'm brand new to the forum and an A/C novice trying my best. My question is: What can cause the line (the so-called "hard line") in and out of the receiver/dryer to be super hot to the touch, enough to blister the skin even with a brief touch to this line? I put on new lines, hoses, o-rings, and dryer, the system was empty of R12, I'm using the original compressor and condenser, added R134a at approx. 70% of what the R12 was, the pressures seem fine and the system cools, but not as cool as I would like. I appreciate any and all replies and help. Thank you.

So your pressures are 18 & 210 at 1500 RPM?

I don't have the dual gauge setup; only a gauge for the low pressure line. :-( I should have an experienced A/C tech look at this.

Thank you for replying.

Thank you for replying.

Could be a few reason for a hot line. But we would need some basic information to help figure out what could be the issue. Proper refrigerant amount and pressure readings would be helpful.

Unless we have the high side pressures and the temperature of the dryer line, there's no way to tell if it's normal. The lines to the dryer can get pretty hot during high ambient temperatures, but high side pressures at least will help confirm.
