Can you determine refrigerant level based on pressures?

Can you determine refrigerant levels based on pressures alone? In other words if my readings are whatever normal would be, let's say 35/250, is that enough to know I have the proper amount of refrigerant? How accurate would that be considered? Is it accurate to say 4 ounces, or dead on accurate?

Is the only true way to get an accurate idea of refrigerant level an evacuation and recharge with weighed refrigerant?

Just a general question. TIA!

Yes.

This can be a good indicator of approximate charge level, as well as the condition of the system. But for answer: see above.

You must weigh "out" the charge to know refrig amount

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
