I've been doing a little searching but haven't been able to find a concise explanation of the different types of entry level refrigerant recovery machines available. I originally assumed these types of machines would be basically the same as the more expensive types except for maybe they would lack features, be non-automated or have lower quality components. But, even then, these lower cost machines look like they all operate a little differently or have different features. I'm not sure what would be the best for my purposes.
I only do occasional AC work with R12 or R134. Speed or automated/convenience options aren't necessary.
Is there such a report? Can anybody offer their opinions?
Thanks again!
Larry
CPS makes a nice unit for occasional use. I've used them lots of times and like the portability.

Mastercool makes a fine unit. These types of units simply recover refrigerant. No oil separation or filters like the true R & R machines.
