How many sizes of 8 sided Bridgeport adaptors have been used in the mobile AC business?

What the heck is a Bridgeport adapter? I've worked on A/C systems for more than 30 years and never heard that before...

My thoughts exactly

Before today I have never heard that name either.
I am talking about the 134a high side valve that takes a 8-sided socket to remove.
MasterCool shows two sockets #98134 and #98234 are there only two sizes?

It's just a special socket for primary valves. Fits a little snugger than a normal socket.

Not sure I can match ebay pricing. Tools prices are crazy. But hey low overhead makes for low prices.

8 point sockets are available in various sizes. However, the 134a requirements are for two sizes only. They may be available in both deep and shallow. They are useful to maintain the integrity or prevent distortion of the adapter. Added these to my tool box at the beginning of the 'craze' and have used them many times.
Many use what ever to secure the adapters...however have seen several in the shop with the adapters totally trashed because the incorrect tool was used to install the adapters. Cost is minimal for the benefit of having the correct tool.

I dunno, the retrofit adapters I have are 6 sided, and don't think I've ever seen an 8 sided adapter... and if I did, I probably just installed it with an adjustable, since they're not supposed to come off anyway.

I also might not be the best source on info for this, since I avoid retrofitting and prefer keeping systems original... no fitting issues that way, LOL.

What is this "retrofit" you speak of JJM?

No way, none of my vehicles have ever been retrofitted, but I do have a box with a bunch of fittings, cores, caps, labels, and the like, used mainly for cars that were run to the auction. Got a bunch of HPCO's and adapters too.

Don't get much use out of them now, since most cars are R-134a. But about 10 years ago, when R-12 prices were sky high and we'd take in vehicles with no A/C, they got a minimum retro to avoid going on the block with a no A/C light. Bad enough having a blue light for title attached, but a second light for no A/C... the bidders start to disappear in a hurry.

Huh.

I always thought it was an Algonquian expression meaning "terrible idea".

If you have the HPCO adapter, binary & service port. They no longer make them for the R12 port. Could be a good Flebay option.
