Total oil capacity?

CyFi on Sun July 24, 2011 3:36 PM User is offline

Year: 1987
Make: Toyota
Model: Supra
Engine Size: 3.0
Refrigerant Type: R12
Ambient Temp: x
Pressure Low: x
Pressure High: x

I was wondering if anyone could help me out with figuring out how much oil to add to a completely dry system on my 87 Supra. In the factory repair manual, only amounts for each component being replaced are supplied. These are the amounts they give.
Receiver: .7 oz
Condenser: 1.4-1.7 oz
Evaporator: 1.4-1.7 oz
That would mean...
Total oil amount for dry system: 3.5-4.1 oz

There is however no mention of replenishing oil if the compressor is replaced.

When I refer to the PDF on this website
http://www.autoacforum.com/speclisting.pdf

It shows an 8.8 oz oil fill for this system, which is more than double the amount shown by Toyota.

The system is completely flushed and compressor has been drained completely. Could anyone help me figure out how much oil this system really needs?
Thank you very much!

My 96 Corolla calls for around 4 oz. in the compressor itself. Yours is likely similar, which would bring the total to around 8 oz. or a little more.
