Minor bumper accident kills AC

dperson2 on Tue July 19, 2011 2:06 AM User is offline

Year: 2003
Make: VW
Model: Passat
Engine Size: 1.8t
Refrigerant Type: dunno

Air conditioner was working great. I then hit somone going 5mph my front bumper to his rear bumper. (broke my grill and altered hood placement) and all of a sudden the AC stopped working. Heres the lowdown

Compressor doesnt kick on: (AC was on when I hit him)

The secondary AC fan comes on and sounds fine
AC lights on button inside car works
all fuses checked out
I can hear the relay click on (from behind fuse box) when I turn on the ac button inside car.
I got underneath the car and everything seems fine.
Temperature of car stays good.
the condensor isnt leaking nor is cracked.

I'm asuming:

Either I pinched/cut an electrical wire thats important during the accident.
Or I damaged the clutch during the fender bender.

What would you guys have me do?

Start by checking the pressure, there could be a leak you didn't notice. Refrigerant is a gas and especially when it leaks while the compressor is not running, it doesn't always carry out a trail of oil with it.
