Will someone tell me the proper clutch gap for a 2004 Chevy Avalanche AC compressor? It has the typical works fine for till the engine gets good and warm...then the clutch lets loose. I can tap it with a screw driver handle and the clutch reengages....
Remove clutch driver- then remove the thickest shim-- gap should be near .020"...

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......
i thought the compressor clutch on this vehicle just needed to be "pressed" closer to the compressor. Not shimmed like a FORD is it?
