Removing compressor 1992 S-10

Torino on Fri June 17, 2011 2:33 PM User is offlineView users profile

Year: 1992
Make: Chev
Model: s10
Engine Size: 4.3
Refrigerant Type: r-12
Country of Origin: United States

Trying to get the compressor off but can't remove the bolts all the way. They are hitting the pulley. Is there a way to get it off with out taking the pulley off? If not what are the procedures for taking the pulley off.

Big Hint-- the bolts have a flat spot on the washer collar-- turn them so the flat clears the pulley! then wiggle them out....

The number one A/C diagnostic tool there is- is to know how much refrigerant is in the system- this can only be done by recovering and weighing the refrigerant!!
Just a thought.... 65% of A/C failures in my 3200 car diagnostic database (GM vehicles) are due to loss of refrigerant due to a leak......

I did notice that but could only get one out. The other will not clear the pulley.

Finally got them out, had to do a little prying to get the compressor to move. Thanks for the help.
