Low side leak at valve core help

Lorenzo on Wed June 15, 2011 9:18 PM User is offlineView users profile

Year: 2001
Make: Honda
Model: Accord
Engine Size: 4 cyl
Refrigerant Type: 134a

I found I have a leak on the valve core of a friends car. I went ahead and purchased a valve core remover for AC systems so I won't loose the refrigerant that's in it since it was just recently filled. Anyways The problem I have is I bought a kit on e-bay that does both low side and high side lines figured nice tool to have handy since this isn't the first time this happened on someones car. Of course the tool is way to large to fit inside to get the valve core out it hits on the metal on the line before it even comes close. Does anyone know what size this valve core is? I know it looks just like the one on a neon I changed using a tire valve tool to get it out. It's super narrow. Also does anyone know if they sell something I can possibly even adapt to the tools I just bought? I hate to send them back to get something else so if I can just get the part that the rod is on and thread it to what I have it will be great.

This is what I bought that won't work

I just seen this the rod looks in the picture much thinner but I really can't tell.

I have a feeling the valve core is around a M6 but honestly not sure.

Any help greatly appreciated you can even e-mail me if needed ldecaria@comcast.net

Thanks,
Lorenzo

That's the one I just found but if anyone has any info please let me know forgot to put the link in there to show what I was looking at and have. I just need something that will fit on a neon as well as a honda. Worst I send what I bought back

Thanks,
Lorenzo

Don't these shraeder valve cores typically leak? And the seal is really from a good-quality cap with a rubber seal inside it?

To a degree. Even a good cap is not going to stop a can a month leak.
