Hi all, I plan to start using my old truck again and would like to get some cold air moving. It has not had cold air for several years. The compressorrade still works and sounds fine, but there is no cool air. I assume I have no choice but to upgrade if I want cold air. Where should I begin. Is it possible that I lost coolant over 15 years or so and there is no major leak in the system? Do I have to get all the old stuff out before adding the 134? I will try and read more on the forum, but I saw phrases like black death and other things that are all new to me. I am fairly handy, but no experience with automotive ac.
I appreciate any help anyone may have to offer.

R-12 is still legal to use in the US.

Excuse my ignorance, I will be looking for a shop nearby then. Thanks guys. Is there any other reason I should consider going with 134 or 12?

r-12 is a better freon, you dont have to pull the compressor to change the oil! its easier on the system!
