R12/R134 Gauge Compatibility

69-er on Sat April 09, 2011 8:02 PM User is offlineView users profile

I have a manifold set that has scales on the gauges labeled as: R-12, R-22 and R-502. Besides the hose fittings being different, can these gauges be used on other refrigerants, namely R-134?

If this is possible, how would I go about adapting the gauges to connect to the R-12 and R-134 fittings? I've seen different types of adapters. Is that the way to go? What actually needs to be adapted? Are the fittings on the gauges different between the two systems?

BTW, what are these different labeled scales used for? I have always just used the main pressure scales.

Thanks!

Larry

You can use the gauges with any refrigerant.. Automotive gauges you just go by the PSI, commercial refrigeration they tell the tech much more.. But don't confuse yourself.. You can contact the guys at Info@ackits.com for the proper adaptors and hoses to use with R134a (couplers too)
