Condenser Replacement How Much Oil?

91boz on Sun February 06, 2011 12:32 AM User is offline

Year: 1995
Make: Acura
Model: Legend
Engine Size: 3.2
Refrigerant Type: R134

I have a slow leak from the front of the condenser and need to replace it. My question is how much pag 46 should I add to the system with the new condenser?

My under the hood R134 capacity shows 26.5 max 24.7 min.
The system capacities chart on this forum shows 5 oz pag46 total system oil. How much should I add when replacing the condenser?

Fix the leak and add back 1 ounce of oil. It's a guess as to how much oil loss one will see.

I am just as good as guessing the amount of oil as picking the correct lottery numbers. But at least with AC can flush out the rest and put in the recommended amount. Also plan on replacing the accumulator, certainly its soaking wet at this time.

Can someone tell me how to flush out all the incorrect lottery numbers?

Whoops, make that the receiver.

Thanks for the info! I will add 1 oz of oil and replace the receiver along with the condenser.

Not sure where you got that one ounce of oil information, your system uses PAG oil that is highly hygroscopic in nature. What PAG left in there would be milky at least, purpose of flushing is to get rid of that stuff.

Furthermore, was made paranoid with Honda Fluids. Such as PS, AT, brakes, and AC. Something to do with the seals, any other fluid, save the engine, that can use any top brand results in leaks and even jamming of these components. Would stick with Honda PAG.

But its your car, do whatever you want to do, just don't come here crying about it.

I am so paranoid on this subject, like to put the system together dry, then inject the oil into it. That is the way it is done at the factory.
