Need part numbers for VIR expansion valve and poa

BG1 on Fri October 29, 2010 11:49 AM User is offline

Year: 1976
Make: Pontiac
Model: Firebird
Engine Size: 455
Refrigerant Type: R134a
Country of Origin: United States

Does anyone have a way to look up part numbers? I need part numbers for the VIR internal expansion valve and poa valves. Who would still have these for sale? This is for a 1976 Pontiac Firebird

If ACKITS don't have them I probably do.

You looking for one of these? If so they are about $15.00.

The POA looks kinda like that. I checked with this site ACKITS and they do not have these parts.

the one pictured is an adjustable POA. If you're using r134a, it's a good choice.

Do you have the expansion valves for the VIR? Do you have a site to look at these? What about prices? Thanks

before you give up on ACKITS you might want try calling them tomorrow and speaking to an actual person. I have read before (I think) that sometimes they have stuff that is either not listed on the net or maybe just hard to find.

I called them yesterday and was told they do not carry these parts. I have seen them in the past so I need to keep looking.

Adjustable? Can you elaborate on that a bit?
I was under the impression that those valves were all non-adjustable, which made VIR systems poor(er) candidates for R134a conversion.

Huh. VIR parts getting hard to find. I believe I predicted this when it was suggested that beating one on the concrete was the way to "recalibrate" it for 134a.

Hope you can find what you need BG

the POA pictured is an EPR valve. These were able to be adjusted if they had the nut on top.

I probably have both a new POA and TXV for a VIR. Will look tomorrow and post my results. If I have them, if Tim ok's it I'll sell them to you.

Sell them if you can. You all help a lot on these POA/VIR systems. I never messed with them that much so I just let the experts handle the questions.
