Converting back to R12

bob234 on Thu August 19, 2010 10:57 PM User is offline

Year: 1992
Make: Chevrolet
Model: Silverado
Engine Size: 5.7
Refrigerant Type: R134A
Ambient Temp: 95

I am going to convert this truck back to R12 to get my cooling back while idling. I want the A/C in this truck to be like a meat locker not just cool. What else should I swap out to achieve this? I already put in a parallel flow condenser, blue ford orifice tube, better evaporator, new compressor, new blower motor and a severe duty fan clutch. One more question, would I be better off keeping the oil ester since it was a former retrofit, or go back to mineral oil?

If you remove the old oil I would use mineral oil with R12. Worked for all these years not reason to swap out now.
