Hello,

I am changing the AC compressor on my Mom's 2003 Honda Accord (4 cyl) and I need help with how to remove the AC compressor. I have it striped down to just two bolts left to take off but that is where my problem (headache) is with the removal of it. The two bolts left are located directly on the under side of the compressor and I cannot reach them. I called two shops one shop said I would have to remove the radiator housing to reach it and the other shop said I would have to remove sub-assy. From my personal experience it looks like the second shop may be more accurate with having to remove the sub-assy. Before, I start to tear into this one again and try to remove the AC compressor. I wanted to see if anybody else has taken the AC compressor off their 2003 Honda Accord (4 cyl) and how they removed it. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!

Subframe does not need to be removed.

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
Recover the refrigerant with a recovery/recycling/charging station.
Remove the alternator.
Remove the A/C compressor clutch connector (A) from the A/C condenser fan shroud, then disconnect the connector. Remove the bolt and the nut, then disconnect the suction line (B) and discharge line (C) from the A/C compressor. Plug or cap the lines immediately after disconnecting them to avoid moisture and dust contamination.

Remove the mounting bolts and the A/C compressor. Be careful not to damage the radiator fins when removing the A/C compressor.

Install the A/C compressor in the reverse order of removal.
