Is my Condenser Clogged ?

Wadea2 on Sun July 25, 2010 10:12 AM User is offline

Year: 99
Make: Ford
Model: E-150
Engine Size: 4.6
Refrigerant Type: 134 A
Ambient Temp: 95 - 100
Pressure Low: 50
Pressure High: 250
Country of Origin: United States

My compressor clutch went out, Had a shop do the job, Replaced the compressor , Accum, and Orifice Tube. This van has a aftermarket rear AC. They said they flushed front of system but did not flush the back.

First day back, AC was cooling 60 at the vent ( You could hang meat in this van before ) , Returned it they tried again pulling system down and recharging. Said fan clutch was bad so I replaced it.

Still poor cooling.

I ordered a replacement rear expansion valve and they flushed the rear and put it on.

A little better but not right. They said low side was 35 to 49 , I had it checked by someone else and got 60 low side.

They tried a new compressor , still the same.

I took temp at condenser , only 8 degrees cooler coming out , I have been told it should be 20 - 50 cooler at outlet.

Should I replace condenser ?

I would check for dead spots on the condenser. Meaning look for cold sections.
