I have a 2002 Jeep Liberty. The a/c blows hot air, the a/c clutch does not work. If i jumper it at the low pressure switch it will engage, then immediately turn off. I have connected a recharge can with a gage on it, ( low side ) but according to the instructions on the can the charge is O.K. (40 ). any suggestions ?

You need to use a real gauge set. Likely you're low on refrigerant so the pressure switch is doing its job and preventing AC clutch engagement. Can/gauge combos are worthless.
