a/c cutting out

Jimmy101 on Tue July 14, 2009 9:34 PM User is offline

Year: 05
Make: scion
Model: xa
Engine Size: 1.5L
Refrigerant Type: r134
Ambient Temp: 100
Pressure Low: 40
Pressure High: 150
Country of Origin: Japan

My a/c cools down to 50F, but then cuts out,
and takes quite a while before it kicks on again.
I tried spraying water on my condenser, but
it didn't kick back on.

Pressures and temperatures would help get you some possible answers. It could be something as simple as a low charge of freon to a bad cycling switch or many other possibilities. The people on this site are very helpful and can usually solve the problem if given enough information.

first you appear undercharged at that ambient, recover and recharge into a deep vacuum, then you can properly diagnosis the system. you may also have a clutch gap problem which would account for the long time before it kicks back on, but recharge the system first..Hope this helps.
