Poor Mustang A/C Performance

ncprog4 on Mon July 13, 2009 1:03 PM User is offline

Year: 1994
Make: ford
Model: mustang
Engine Size: 5.0
Refrigerant Type: 134a
Ambient Temp: 110
Country of Origin: United States

I need help with a 1994 Mustang GT convertible, 5.0. ,auto.
I had a friend work the a/c. We purged the system, pulled vacuum, charged it back up with the factory spec. amount. Pressures were normal. The vent temp. on the highway is only about 50 deg. Ambient temp. was about 110 deg. In town stop and go traffic was anywhere between 50 and 60+ deg. Is this normal? Any suggestions for improving this?

Pressure readings at idle and 1500 rpm would help the readers get an idea of how your system is working!

OK... @110 ambient temp... idle reads 46 and 350. At 1500 RPM I get 35 and 450. Factory spec of refigerant is 2 lbs, 2 oz. which is what was charged.
