Are R134 and R12 gauges the same?

VegasGMC on Mon April 14, 2008 5:19 PM User is offline

I wanted to know if I could connect R12 hoses to my R134 gauge set. I havent been able to find any R134-R12 adapters. Thanks

Gauges them selves are the same. The body is different and I have yet to find a hose set that goes back to R12.

I have a set of adapter hoses which adapt my R-12 gauge set to use with R-134a; I still have vehicles that use both. I also have an adapter for my vacuum pump. I bought the adapters somewhere on the Internet; they have quick-connects to the R-134a fittings, and lever shut off valves in the adapters as well.

Yes going from R12 to R134a is easy. Going R134a to R12 is where it becomes more of a challenge.

I saw these adapters on ebay at this site:

Edit: Sorry no Ebay links on this forum please.

I found a set of gauges on Ebay that are R12 with R134 adapters. They work great. Was able to convert the Jimmy back to R12 with no problems.

Well that's not the same was wanting to attach R12 hoses to a R134a gauge set.
