hose fittings

blaster_works on Mon February 04, 2008 9:58 AM User is offline

i am trying to determine what type of fitting i need to buy to hook my yellow hose up to my pump. i havent been able to find the right fitting to fit into the hose. I am going to a hydrolic shop today. looks like about a 5/16 with a coarser thread then what i have been finding. i bought a used robinair pump and the fitting was wrong. And yes i am also changing the oil.

thanks

Are you looking for an adaptor to make your R134a hose hook up to an R12 service port on an older pump? If so you need the TOP ONE in this link. Most older vacuum pumps only have the older R12 style fitting, and this adaptor will allow the R134a yellow hose hook right up to it..Hope this helps..

i am trying tto hook up my new ose set labled r-12 and r134 to an old robinair pump. not sure what it wat used for before.

those fittings on my guage set that i am trying to hook onto look like jic but the thread pitch looks different.
i was hoping to just pick up a fitting out of a local hydrolic shop.

thanks
the original pump fitting is much larger

If you could post a pic would be helpful, but most automotive pumps used R12 type fittings, and a larger one for HVAC jobs.. A pic of the pump and the fitting would be helpful...

ive got it
the two common fitting types are 1/4 mfl and 1/2 acme robinair sells the correct fitting for my pump to adapt it over . the local supply houses dont carry those style fittings however. So i will order the fitting from robiair that has both the standard r12 and 143 fittings on it.

thanks

The 1/4 in is the R12 size, and the Acme is the R134a type.. Which is the number one in the link I gave you.. Which is 1/4in to Acme... Can't believe none of the auto parts stores handle them..maybe print out the pic of the fitting and ask them..
