What is needed to vacuum system prior to refilling

rjdevita on Wed September 21, 2005 12:08 PM User is offline

I have a GAST DOA-V110-AB vacuum pump. Can I use it ? If so, how do I connect it, and what prevents contaminants from entering the pump ?

From the manufactures brocure in pdf.

Oilless Diaphragm Vacuum Pumps and Compressors (built before 6/02)

OPERATION & MAINTENANCE MANUAL
Product Use Criteria:
• Pump only clean, dry air.
• Operate at 40ºF - 104ºF (4.4ºC - 40ºC).
• Protect unit from dirt & moisture.
• Do not pump flammable or explosive gases or
use in an atmosphere that contains such gases.
• Corrosive gases and particulate material will damage unit. Water vapor, oil-based contaminants or other liquids must be filtered out.
• Protect all surrounding items from exhaust air. This
exhaust air can become very hot.
• Consult your Gast Distributor/Representative
before using at high altitudes.

Sounds like it is not for this kind of work. It will do the job but it will not have a long life.

For a fitting see if tim can get you a ROB-15495 adapter. There are others would need to know what thread is on the pump intake fitting.

That pump will not develop sufficent vacuum. You want to get as much air out as practical, which means an oiled rotary pump.

I reset things last night. As soon as someone posts to a thread the name will show up. Notice mine next to Nick's post now.
