Post by joe »

Low side : 60PSI
High side: 180PSI
Vent Temp: 50F
Ambient Temp: 90F
Conditions: Idle, Shaded area.

134A 1998 Eagle Talon 2.0 Turbo

I dont have my vehicle information to check with..

Based on this information what can you tell me?

Note, i accidentally let out a tiny bit of R and one change was the vent temp rose to 55F

Are those pressures read at 2000 rpm like they should be? Or at idle?

This was at 2-2.5K , ^^

-----------------------------------
Today i checked it with the engine off.
both sides were 95psi

When i turned engine on, low was 10-20 and high was 150-160
That is a big change on the low side...( maybe i let out more freon than i thought)
Temp was 55F at the vent.

So i added a lill freon, then low rose to 30, high was 160-170
temp was 50F at vent.

i added a little more freon. Temp went no lower than 47F
BUT i noticed low side would now fluctuate from 30-60...
It sounded like the compressor clutch was kicking off and on... how ever i could not actually confirm visually due to the location of the compressor.

Additionally for diagnostic sakes i sprayed water on the condenser to see if saw a difference, and also kepped coolant fan on high as well.... No difference..

Get the refrigerant pulled out and weighed, then the correct oz. added by a shop, likely too little refrigerant in your system. Special equipment required.

You didn't add freon (that's R-12), your 1998 Eagle takes R134a. Sure hope that you didn't add any sealant !!!

I'm not a moderator, or an expert, but you wrote "freon". Besides: you're the one who - in your own words - "accidentally let out a tiny bit of R and one change was the vent temp rose to 55F". So sounds like you caused your own problem, and then were too frugal to have a shop do an evacuation and re-charge by weight, and now you're just guessing.
