Vacuum pump service life...

Postby Dave in Texas » Wed Jun 15, 2016 8:16 am

Purchased my first pump almost 20yr ago. 2.5CFM 1-stage. Used it and changed oil about 6-8 times since. Always worked great. Always stored inside/in original desiccant box. Turned it ON recently and it's smoking. It isn't vapor but stinky/oily smoke. It works/pulls a good vacuum, but...
Since it does work, something to go to Goodwill maybe? Or just SC it?
Looking at a 3CFM 2-stage replacement unit. More is better no?
Thanks

I've got a couple options left over from closing the brick and mortar.

New Mastercool pumps.

Thanks Tim for the response. Shipping cost would prolly be tough.
