Compressor: 1999 P-30 Chassis Motorhome

Post by jamyers »

Working on a friend's 1999 Fleetwood Bounder Motorhome with a Chevy 7.4L engine, the installed compressor has a sticker with:

Valero Compressors VC6 R134a
Part Number: 10000582
Mfg Date: 20110221
Oil: PAG 46. 180cc
Made in P.R.C.

This compressor's pulley bearing had died a horrible death, allowing the pulley to drop down 3/8" and wedge itself solid, eating the single serpentine belt - which means that the WHOLE VEHICLE is now I moveable and useless.

Looking for a replacement, and the Fleetwood website is completely useless in id-ing anything, as are most online parts sources.

Best I can learn is that it's a P30 chassis, and most online parts places show either a H6 or an HT6 compressor, some show an R4 even. One Valeo site indicated that the installed dead compressor is a Variable-Displacement unit, which looks to my uneducated self as different from a GM H(whatever)6 compressor.

QUESTION: What is the correct compressor?

and just out of curiosity, what are the differences between all these compressors?

Quick google search and it comes up as a replacement for some 1999 GM trucks. But based on the linked thread, this may have been something that someone swapped in.
99 Jeep XJ
87 Jeep Grand Wagoneer - 6.5 turbodiesel
87 Chevy CC Dually

Wow, I hope that's not directed at me? I saw your earlier post saying that an HT6 was the correct compressor, but was unable to login and reply from my iphone yesterday, and I just now got back here on a desktop.

At any rate, thanks for the info!
