Overcharged System?

Post by dchiasson2 »

Static pressure on low side is 140psi. Starting up with AC on the high side pressure rises until it eventually hits 500psi, the low side only drops to 80 pounds. Looks like relief is causing the clutch to disengage once it reaches 500. It continually cycles like this. Is the system simply overcharged or should I look else where?

Thanks in advance.

Need a lot more info. Make and year, Has system had refrigerant added? Has refrigerant been recovered and charged by weight? Ambient temperature? Fans working?

sounds like air in the system from here-- did you pull adequate vacuum?

It's a 2004 jeep liberty. I had changed compressor, orfice tube and drier. I did put vacuum on it before recharging. The fan does kick on. I did this work close to a year ago. The high side pressure rises to 500psi as soon as the jeep is started.
