Re: Evaporator temps around 70 degrees, vent temps only 45 degrees at best

Hi everyone, thanks for your continued help on this. I've been tied up with a bunch of other things lately and just recently have gotten back into troubleshooting this issue. I know my posts are very lengthy, and here comes another one, but it hopefully includes all the important details you all are...

Re: Evaporator temps around 70 degrees, vent temps only 45 degrees at best

How does 62 degrees sound on a 93 degree day, in recirc mode?? Haha. That 45 degrees is also only if I'm barreling down the highway for 15+ minutes. Otherwise, if I'm sitting in traffic, that same day I see 45 blasting down the highway, I only see 54 or so sitting still. And 60 degree days... I've s...

Evaporator temps around 70 degrees, vent temps only 45 degrees at best

Hi everyone, I had another thread on here recently, and after replacing all A/C components this weekend, I have no improvements in outlet temp. Here is the history: 2006 Lincoln Navigator w/rear (aux) A/C. Bought it in April 2016, with 110k on the odometer. Seemed to be taken care of pretty well. Su...

How to properly drain a compressor?

Hi everyone, I have a compressor that is only a few months old, but I decided to tear down the entire A/C system and start from scratch with filling the PAG oil and refrigerant (I feel there's a chance I added a little more than the required 14 oz when filling the new compressor late last year when ...

Re: 2005 Navigator - Replaced nearly entire A/C system, still won't blow cold enough

I guess the thing to keep in mind is that it will only hit 45 degrees sometimes . Some days it'll be in the 70's outside, and I'll be cruising down the highway with the A/C on full blast for 30+ minutes and still only see 48 degrees or so. And the amount of time it takes to get to 45 degrees, on the...

Re: 2005 Navigator - Replaced nearly entire A/C system, still won't blow cold enough

Those that read my prior posts within this thread might recall that when I did a vacuum check, followed by a pressure check (with nitrogen), the system wasn't holding. I actually did several more vacuum checks after the first pressure check, and could see a decrease in vacuum after just several minu...

Re: 2005 Navigator - Replaced nearly entire A/C system, still won't blow cold enough

You will hear the difference on the first cold start after install. Consider the P/T curve. With 250 psi, the liquid is 147f. With 200 psi, the liquid is 131f Every single thing in the system has an effect. A little too much oil, a slight undercharge because of poor condenser performance, etc. Many...

Re: 2005 Navigator - Replaced nearly entire A/C system, still won't blow cold enough

Thanks for the info Cusser! Honestly, this is the first vehicle I've had with a fan clutch, since my first vehicle in 1999 when I was in high school, which was a 1987 Dodge Raider haha. Have owned many vehicles since, but all have had electric fans up until this one. Never occurred to me that a fan ...

Re: 2005 Navigator - Replaced nearly entire A/C system, still won't blow cold enough

Thanks for the responses again! So I went out a little bit ago today with my phone to video tape the cooling fan. The engine was still nice and hot (not hotter than it should be, just hot) from the drive I just got back from, so I started a video on my phone and then remote started the car. The fan ...
