During 14 years at BEHR we introduced first ever factory installed Sanden on Renault R5/Paris, then VWs, Porsche, Alpha Romeo/Turin Italy, Volvo etc. Holden was a early...

Re: Mark IV AC evaporator history questions
The MARK IV store front has a MARK IV Monitor shown on the center shelf. I made the drawings on this evaporator including the zinc diecast bezel and coordinated with the tooling shop to resolve machining mistakes with compromises. The controls on the center lower chin worked well on LH drive. My eng...

Re: Hyundai Excavator A/C Woes
Initial engagement of roof top or sluggers often engage clutch during all startups w/ or w/o AC on, so liquid is gradually dissipated. Belt chirp due to slugging: Slugging can have sequential stages bang/bang/bang 1) liquid inside the compressor 2) suction line dips 3) liquid inside evaporator The c...

Re: Hyundai Excavator A/C Woes
Please explain more detail on "2 evaporator lines" and belt chirp on engagement. Vee belt will always relax about 20 pounds after 1 hour running. Are grooves available for dual matched belts? CAT has machines with slugging which use an accumulator with a txv. Is the belt wrap at least 90 d...

Re: Hyundai Excavator A/C Woes
partial checklist: 1) In USA heavy trucks with Vee belt use Dayco 17/32 top width belt 2) never use back side tension pulley w/ single Vee belt 3) Severe start up at higher rpm liquid slugging can cause belt failure 4) long belt spans w/o idler pulley allow excessive belt bounce 5) Tension pulley sh...

Re: how to correctly install peanut style compressor manifolds?
Rubber covered metal gaskets seal more reliably with lube instead of dry. Refrigerant mineral oil also works good.

Re: Any MACS people out there?
T Bird, You could probably help teach the course. but this MACS certificate or ASE are fun and would look good. Training is separate from trade show. Was with about 10 other aftermarket installers/repairmen and OEM reps at launch to debug 3 day proposed training. Next MACS made training videos and w...

Re: Tube & Fin Condenser on Roof?
We all have a AC trial and error learning curve. At 18 years old, my first AC installation in my Ford used scrap freebe components but I couldn"t charge it until I found the rubber plug I left inside the condenser. Should have good hunting in Kimberly, NW Australia and you have the cold offroad...
