The compressor on that Powerstroke is mounted above the passenger side valve cover - right on top of the engine.
Yes, a rear port head is needed for that install.

While refurbishing a dryer could be done, generally this is an expensive route reserved to 100 point cars. Switches could be for many things, you need to look at the wiring diagram for the car. As I recall those Alfas had electric fans, so one switch may run the fan above a certain pressure. So it pops at 30 psi. No air comes out of the compressor suction end that you have open to atmosphere until 30 psi right?

Customer complains that it "stops"
Check the clutch gap. Very possible it stops cooling on a hot restart with a bad clutch gap.
Check the gap. If it is out of spec, correct it. It needs to be right anyway.

Well a 20% oil overcharge is not good.
If the system was designed for 5 ounces, the 6th ounce is 20%.

500cc's of oil is max charge on the pump. You would fill the compressor and run the system, checking the sight gauge on the compressor to see if it needed any additional oil. Probably be close to full on the gauge. The compressor manual also says that if you remove & replace the same compressor ...
