Re: 2008 Suburban vs 2000 Excursion AC Functionality

Detroit:
The compressor on that Powerstroke is mounted above the passenger side valve cover - right on top of the engine.

Yes, a rear port head is needed for that install.

Re: GDP switches and accumulator

While refurbishing a dryer could be done, generally this is an expensive route reserved to 100 point cars. The switches in your picture would appear to be wired in series with the jumper wire that crosses the top of the dryer. If the green switch has more than one wire however it may have other func...

Re: Weird AC Problem

Customer complains that it "stops"

Check the clutch gap. Very possible it stops cooling on a hot restart with a bad clutch gap.

Check the gap. If it is out of spec, correct it. It needs to be right anyway.

Well a 20% oil overcharge is not good.

If the system was designed for 5 ounces, the 6th ounce is 20%.

Re: 2008 Suburban vs 2000 Excursion AC Functionality

500cc's of oil is max charge on the pump. You would fill the compressor and run the system, checking the sight gauge on the compressor to see if it needed any additional oil. Probably be close to full on the gauge. The compressor manual also says that if you remove & replace the same compressor ...
