About 30 ounces of R-134a does seem a little light. I think it should be around 32-38 ounces based on the R-12 spec. Did you weigh-in the charge or estimate using the small cans? Next time buy from Tim at Arizona Mobile Air !!!

I've bought at least three compressors and an evaporator from Arizona Mobile Air for various vehicles over the past 2.5 decades. And I bought a vacuum pump from them for my work laboratory.

Not uncommon at all. Auto AC systems are designed to leak a tiny amount out of the compressor seal, to keep the shaft lubricated.

Thanks for the help. I'm almost finished with getting the condenser out. Evaporator has been reinstalled under the dash. One other question I have is about the factory specification for the refrigerant amount. The sticker under the hood says 23 oz, while the service manual states the capacity as 24...

Car is a Ford Focus 2009 with factory charge 600 grams and 200 ml PAG oil. After replacing the discharge pipe that had a big crack in it 5 inch from outlet I wonder hos much oil I need to add. Would not hurt to check the AC clutch gap.

Had the gap issue on my '98 Frontier last summer, removed one shim to fix.
